christchurch getting new street signs
The Christchurch City Council has put aside nearly $100,000 for four massive street signs, that will help people navigate the central city.
The signs necessity comes after the earthquakes resulting in a loss of several of the central city landmarks, which consequently is making it hard for pedestrians to find their way around. The signs will be installed as ‘Signal Towers’, that will provide map details to key locations as well as have space for advertising and solar-powered speakers to play music.
The towers are large structures, being 8m in total height and they are thought to have at least a lifespan of five years. It is hoped they will be ready to be installed by late October, right on time for the summer season.
