Book Week 2016

Hello Everyone. This week was book character week and in this blog post you will learn about book week and all the activities in book week!
Here is what happened in the week:

Turbulent Thursday - Every year on a Wednesday ( in this case a Thursday) we have wacky Wednesday (turbulent Thursday). We have a wacky creation over the top of our uniform and some people can have the craziest things like: crazy hair, odd socks/shoes, pj's showing. You really don't know what to expect. This year for Turbulent Thursday I had wacky hair odd socks and shoes and I had some pipe cleaners on my arm! it was so much fun

Book Character day - Today we had book character day and it is very fun and we all get to dress up in costumes of our favorite book character. I dressed up as Pocahontas and I got lots of comments on my outfit. I enjoy book character day because it is fun to come to school and see everyone dressed up.

Door display - Sometimes we have a door display challenge where we have to have a theme for our door and make it real. This year we chose to do the BFG for the first door and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on the other door they are looking fabulous. For the BFG door we have some large duvet's for the legs and large gumboots for the feet, we also had some dream jars on a shelf to be the BFG's Dream potions like in the story. For the Charlie and the chocolate factory door we got some old chocolate wrappers and some pictures that had the names of the book characters on it and stuck them to the wall. We also had a Oompa loompa and some art work just to jazz it up a bit.

Golden tickets - We had a Golden ticket hunt this year and today was the last day to find the ticket it is a hunting competition and it is really fun. On day one a senior in the school found it, on day two another senior found it, on day three a student from our class found it, on day four a younger student found it and today another senior found the ticket. Everybody gets a chance to find the Golden ticket!

PJ party - On Tuesday night we had a PJ party in the school library. It was really fun, some of the teachers took off to the stage and read some funny picture books. we also had a song and a name draw to win a prize ( my name didn't get called out ) we had the option of attending the PJ party and obviously I did it was really fun. I really enjoyed it and I am defiantly going to it next year!

Even more Book week activities!

Buddy Reading - We had some younger students come to our class during the week and we read to the younger students and they read to us! It was really fun we all enjoyed it. The younger student enjoyed reading there book from their class and we enjoyed reading the books from our class.

Puzzle Day - On Thursday we had puzzle day and there were heaps of puzzles to complete in the library we were all invited to join in the fun. There were word puzzles and there were picture puzzles to complete really there were all sorts of puzzles.

Chalk art - On Monday we had chalk art outside on the courts. I was really cool and the art is still there. All the children enjoyed drawing outside in the sun and the bright chalk colors look really cool and stand out on the blackish/Grey concrete.

Coloring competition - During the week there has been a coloring competition for all ages and the prize you get is really cool books. you get to choose which piece of art that you color in and you can use any colors and the artworks look really cool.

Worms - In the library there is a jar of gummy worms and when we issue a new library book we get to guess how many gummy worms are in the jar and if we guess correctly we get to have the jar to share with our class I guessed and my number was 246 I hope that I get it right!

  1. Hello Jessie,

This is a great post - it made me want to go back to school!
I'm a bit of a bookworm myself and would love to experience bookweek the Grey Main way.

Your grammar and punctuation is much improved in this writing. Please carry on doing that.

Looking forward to reading your next post.

    Cheers!
