The Bright lights - Wearable arts

Wearable Arts 2017
Tonight is the night of us sharing what we've done for Wearable arts this year and by we I mean : Jessie, Shakanna and Wyatt they are the people that are in my group. What is wearable arts you ask well it is a project that you work on during topic time at school and you study a festival and transform that in to a dress/ costume/ head piece.

This year my group chose to study Diwali it is a Hindu festival celebrated all over the world but mainly in India. The festival is all about celebrating light over darkness (good over evil) and it is also honoring Lakshmi the goddess of fortune and prosperity, it also marks the start of the financial year in India. We chose this festival because the was many candle it seemed bright there was rangoli (dyed rice patterns) and we could tie that into the costume.

To make this we started with a plastic bag for the top and paper for the bottoms we layered each with paper-mache then paint and glitter here and there. to tie the pieces together we plaited pieces of string and looped it through some holes like a shoe lace.

I think that it went fairly well and we put in a good effort what went as expected was probably the top and the string. If I had to change anything it would probably be the style and the materials and we would have started earlier (we started a bit late.)

Eye report for writing

The past two weeks in writing we have been working on reports that have to do with parts of the body and I chose to write a report on the eye out of our three options (eye, heart or pancreas). I transferred the report from a google doc to a google slide to present it. Did you know that silver isn't a shade of blue? Read on!

ART Workshop

This week in school there was a special art workshop for some of the more talented children in our school and I was one of the lucky ones and was chosen to be in this workshop.
We had to draw still life and that is basically when it isn't a living or moving object like teapots or flowers. After we sketched out our perfect composition we brought out a big piece of cartridge (painting paper) and we did two versions of our piece we did a warm color version and a cold color version.

Also we have begun to prepare our props for our big school production it is based on a history class that soon turns into a music history class meanwhile a child is getting bullied behind the scenes. and its called:

Hanmer Springs Camp 2017 Woo Hooo

Last week was the best ever because it was... Camp Week YASSS.
Last week on Wednesday our class went to Hanmer Springs camp officially rated the best camp in HISTORY!! We went tree climbing to the hot pools to the lolly shop orienteering mission impossible mountain biking conical hill walking
This is my team doing mission impossible. Mission impossible is a whole bunch of different and hard challenges that you need to solve in teams the first puzzle was an actual puzzle, it was awesome we did this on the Thursday it was really challenging and cool!

Here is some pictures of the beautiful scenary!!

This is my group doing tree climbing. We are all supporting the person who is on the tree and using the clasps that are connected to the harnesses to support her and keeping climbing supporting mentally physically and verbally was a big part of the activity.

The hot pools are probably the main attraction in Hanmer Springs. It's kind of what it is famous for. We enjoyed ourselves while on the hydro slides especially the Super-Bowl stay tuned in to my blog to see a brochure about Hanmer in the future.

Family fiesta and Cupcakes!

Cupcakes
This year due to me moving up into Totara, I got the chance to make a cupcake to sell for the Family Fiesta. I decided to make some basic cupcakes with raspberry essence, some pink vanilla flavored icing with some sparkly decorations on top. Not only do we sell our cupcakes but we also get a chance to be 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and highly commended (4th). This activity also gives us a chance to get points towards a special badge (we have to get a certain amount of points to earn our badge). (For more information on the family fiesta read on!) Here is a picture of my cupcakes:

Family fiesta
Every year we have Family Fiesta. The Family Fiesta is a day that we have fun and we look at everyone's creations that includes cupcakes, windmills, eggs and creatures. Some of the things you can eat are: Candyfloss, Beef curry, Cakes, Ice-cream, Vege-korma and while you eat you can watch a live performance on stage. The performance could be singing, dancing, playing the  piano  or even an orchestra! It could be anything! Something that I particularly like is the horizontal bungee and the candyfloss. It isn't packaged you can get fresh from the machine! Also some of the teachers will dress up for the event just to make that little bit more fun, from previous years they have dressed up in crazy pink with a wig and sequin jersey. The Family Fiesta super fun and the biggest fundraiser that Grey Main School does!
